About the Role

This role provides vital delivery capacity as the Head of Insight and Engagement phases back into full-time work following a long absence.

There are no direct line management or "Head of" team responsibilities attached to this post.

Instead, the focus is entirely on bringing high-level expertise to take on the day-to-day workload, leading key consultation projects, and ensuring Hackney's residents continue to have a direct voice in Council decisions.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Delivering Key Projects: Lead the planning and execution of inclusive public consultation and engagement activities across Council services.
  • Ensuring Legal Robustness: Guarantee that all consultation processes adhere to statutory duties and can withstand legal challenge.
  • Advising Stakeholders: Act as an expert advisor on engagement strategies for high-profile and sensitive local issues, working closely with senior officers and elected Members.
  • Housing Engagement: Support tenant and leaseholder engagement activities and resident participation initiatives alongside Housing colleagues.
  • Data & Insight: Oversee the analysis and interpretation of consultation feedback, ensuring community insights actively shape Council policy.

  • Proven Track Record: Experience delivering complex public consultations and engagement projects within a local authority or large public sector setting.
  • Political Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to work effectively alongside elected Members and navigate political environments.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong grasp of statutory consultation requirements and engagement best practices.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to engage Hackney's diverse communities and internal leadership team.
  • Immediate Capability: The ability to step in, take ownership of an established workload, and deliver results independently from day one
