Employer Funding & Risk Lead

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced pensions professional to lead on employer funding, risk and relationship management within a complex public-sector environment.

The role will provide expert advice on employer-related pension matters, manage risks including employer solvency and cessation, and oversee significant employer changes such as admissions, mergers, reorganisations and bulk transfers. You will also support the triennial valuation, maintain employer funding data and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and service improvements.

You will build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, employers, advisers and external partners, using your expertise to negotiate solutions, manage complex issues and ensure regulatory and financial requirements are met. The role also includes supervising a small team and supporting wider service delivery.

About you

You will have:

  • At least three years' post-qualification pensions experience, including decision-making and management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes and pension administration, operational and financial issues.
  • Experience managing client/stakeholder relationships within a complex environment.
  • Proven project management, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience of developing and implementing policies, procedures or service improvements.
  • Good IT skills, including advanced spreadsheet capability.
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification, or equivalent skills and experience.

Knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), database applications and Microsoft Office would be advantageous.

This is a senior specialist role offering the opportunity to influence service development, manage significant pension risks and work with a wide range of stakeholders on complex and high-impact issues.
