We are currently seeking a committed and creative Teacher of Science who can inspire pupils across a range of abilities and foster genuine curiosity for the subject. You will plan and adapt engaging lessons, maintain a positive learning environment, and use your strong understanding of GCSE requirements and A-level expectations to support excellent academic progress. Collaboration within the faculty, contribution to co-curricular life, and active involvement in trips, events and wider school initiatives are key parts of the role.

Shebbear College is a small independent day and boarding school of around 300 pupils, for boys and girls aged from 2 – 18. Set in 85-acres of countryside between Dartmoor and Exmoor, it is an idyllic location in which to work. Class sizes are smaller than average throughout the school and we pride ourselves on knowing every pupil as an individual, recognising their potential and helping them to achieve their best, whatever that may be. We are looking for a fantastic science teacher who can:

  • Be highly creative and organised, committed and passionate about teaching science
  • Collaborate with other members of staff within the faculty
  • Develop confidence and skills within our pupils in a friendly, approachable and effective manner
  • Have a strong understanding of the GCSE and A level examination criteria
  • Arrange appropriate trips
  • Support pupils with their further and higher education ambitions when linked to science courses or careers
  • Work with the Head of Marketing & Admissions to promote science inside and outside school and to identify potential scholarship candidates
  • Work with the Head of Faculty on projects and events
