About us

SheaWorks is a fast-growing, family-run electrical and building services contractor working with some of the UK's leading property, managing agent and commercial organisations. We're looking for an experienced Bid & Business Development Manager to join our team and play a key role in the next stage of our growth.

The Role

This isn't simply a bid-writing position. We're looking for someone commercially minded who knows where to find the right opportunities, how to tender for them, how to price them and, most importantly, how to win them. You'll take ownership of identifying and securing new contract opportunities across both the public and private sectors, from initial opportunity through to tender submission, negotiation and award.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively identifying new contracts, frameworks and tender opportunities
  • Monitoring relevant procurement portals and frameworks
  • Identifying opportunities that are commercially suitable for SheaWorks
  • Managing the full tender process from initial enquiry through to submission
  • Completing PQQs, SQs, ITTs and framework applications
  • Preparing high-quality written tender responses, method statements and supporting documentation
  • Reviewing specifications and pricing documents
  • Working confidently with National Schedule of Rates (NSR) / Schedule of Rates
  • Building commercially viable pricing models
  • Liaising with our operational and management teams when preparing bids
  • Developing relationships with procurement teams, managing agents, FM providers, main contractors and other potential clients
  • Identifying opportunities with both existing and prospective clients
  • Attending tender meetings, presentations and negotiations where required
  • Supporting the mobilisation of newly awarded contracts
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of future opportunities

About You

We're particularly interested in candidates who have experience within electrical, M&E, facilities management, property maintenance, compliance, construction or building services. You should have:

  • Proven experience in bids, tenders, business development or pre-construction
  • Strong working knowledge of Schedule of Rates / National Schedule of Rates
  • Experience finding and evaluating tender opportunities
  • Experience tendering for both framework and direct contract opportunities
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • Strong written tender and bid-writing ability
  • An understanding of procurement processes and tender portals
  • Confidence analysing specifications and pricing documents
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to manage multiple tender deadlines simultaneously
  • A demonstrable track record of helping secure contracts or framework appointments
  • Existing industry relationships and experience bringing new opportunities into a business would be a significant advantage.

Why SheaWorks?

This is an opportunity to join an established business where you'll have genuine autonomy to build something. We already have the operational team, engineers, systems and infrastructure in place. We now want someone who can help us take the next step by identifying and securing larger, long-term contract opportunities. You won't simply be handed tenders to complete. We want you to help decide where SheaWorks goes next. You'll work directly alongside the Directors and have the opportunity to make a measurable impact on the growth of the company.

Package

£50,000-£70,000 basic salary depending on experience plus a performance-related bonus linked to successful contract and framework wins. We're open to discussing a higher package for an exceptional candidate with a strong industry track record, existing relationships and demonstrable success securing significant contracts. If you have a strong background, understand the tendering process and know how to turn opportunities into secured contracts, we'd love to hear from you.
