We are seeking to appoint a Midday Meal Supervisor (MDS) to join our supportive and dedicated team at Shears Green Junior School. At Shears Green, we place real value on lunchtime as part of our children’s development. Through our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) approach, pupils experience active, creative and inclusive play opportunities every day. This role is key to ensuring lunchtimes are safe, positive and purposeful.

The Role

  • Supervise pupils in the playground and outdoor areas
  • Support active, imaginative and cooperative play
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s values
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all pupils
  • Respond calmly and consistently to any issues that arise

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with groups of children, ideally within a school, childcare, playwork or youth setting
  • Is confident managing behaviour consistently and positively
  • Is able to build professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Can use initiative and respond effectively to a range of situations
  • Is reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Is enthusiastic about supporting children’s play and social development
  • Is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and supporting active play

Important Information

This role is term time only, working 12:00pm-1:00pm daily. Full training and support will be provided, including OPAL approaches.
