To work as a member of the Underwriting Teams to deliver the required origination levels for the Division.
The role specializes in larger, complex transactions (£1.25m+) and involves extensive interaction with key stakeholders such as Group Risk, Head of Underwriting, National Sales Manager, and members of both the Complex Deal Forum and Credit Approval Committee.
Responsibilities include preparing detailed credit papers for submission to Group and delivering favorable customer outcomes in terms of credit assessment and customer experience.
The role requires analyzing and understanding credit risks, ensuring compliance with Asset Class and Lending Policies across First and Second Lines of Defense, and embedding the Bank and Division’s Risk Management Framework within all activities.
The role holder will initially exercise delegated lending authority of up to £1.25m and participate in ad hoc projects. They will be accountable for their cases and mentor less experienced underwriters, acting as a subject matter expert for Credit Risk, engaging with stakeholders to support objectives, and escalating issues promptly.
Reporting all regulatory concerns to senior management and ensuring data integrity and process adherence are also key responsibilities.

- Strong experience in Commercial and Residential Investment Property.
- Deep business and financial acumen.
- Industry knowledge in Commercial Property lending, including risks, structures, covenant requirements, pricing, and competition.
- Ability to analyze business finances and non-financial aspects effectively.
- Excellent customer service, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Experience in executive-level reporting on strategic initiatives.
- Thorough understanding of credit risk management, credit administration, and loan servicing.
- Proven credit-underwriting skills in banking or finance.
- Regulatory compliance and good standing with authorities.
- Strategic thinking, business planning, and market insight.
