Children’s Residential Support Worker – Minster House

Salary: Starting Rate (£29,767.00), 12 months in position (£30,659.00), QCF Level 3 Qualified (£31,579.00)

Pay Explained: We offer a competitive salary with clear opportunities for progression and increased earnings. As a Band 1 Residential Youth Support Worker, you will receive a starting salary of £29,767 per annum (£14.31 per hour), with the opportunity to earn an additional £5,200 per year through sleep‑ins based on two sleep‑ins per week (£50 per sleep‑in), plus a £100 bonus, giving a total earning potential of £34,967. After 12 months in post, you can progress to Band 2, increasing your salary to £30,659 per annum (£14.74 per hour) and your total earning potential to £35,859. Upon achieving a QCF Level 3 qualification, you can progress to Band 3, earning £31,579 per annum (£15.18 per hour), with a total earning potential of £36,779, including sleep‑in payments and bonus. This structured pay scale recognises both experience and professional development, ensuring your earnings grow as your career progresses.

Location: Minster House, Southwell

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep‑ins

About The Role

As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing stability, guidance and support to a young person who may have experienced trauma, loss and significant challenges in their life.

You Will

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of the young person in our care.
  • Build trusting, positive and professional relationships.
  • Support education, personal development and independence goals.
  • Encourage participation in hobbies, activities and community opportunities.
  • Help young people develop life skills, confidence and resilience.
  • Promote positive behaviour through person‑centred approaches.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and daily documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education teams and other professionals.
  • Act as a positive role model, establishing safe boundaries and routines.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Commitment to achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if not already qualified.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Residential childcare experience.
  • Experience supporting individuals with emotional, behavioural or mental health needs.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice.
