The predicted salary is between 48000 - 84000 £ per year.

To provide exemplary hands-on engineering management duties to contribute to the smooth operation of the site’s production objectives and targets.

This role requires a minimum of 60-70% hands-on factory floor involvement.

Main Duties of the Job

  1. Manage and motivate all team members and ensure they are supported and work in partnership to deliver engineering KPIs that contribute to business KPIs.
  2. Aid in the recruitment, retention, and staff development processes to ensure the engineering team has the correct resources at all times.
  3. Prioritize and manage the engineering workload/activities for the site and delegate duties to subordinates for best efficiency.
  4. Ensure all plant, equipment, and systems are maintained with suitable and sufficient protection as defined by legislation.
  5. Detect and rectify any issues in a timely manner that affect the performance/safety of plant or equipment.
  6. Develop and deliver a cost-effective engineering stores system.
  7. Champion industry best practices and promote the introduction of new technologies, where applicable.
  8. Ensure food safety legislation and guidelines as well as company policies are adhered to.
  9. Adhere to and promote best practices in accordance with company health, safety, and quality regulations.
  10. Ensure GMP (good manufacturing practices) and housekeeping (clean as you go) are strictly adhered to.
  11. Control and minimize waste and play an active part in continuous improvement.
  12. Ensure all completed work is safe and hygienic and complies with FSA and health and safety legislation.
  13. Ensure all work carried out complies with relevant health and safety standards.
  14. Have a duty of care to yourself and others.
  15. Ensure all necessary daily records and paperwork are completed in a timely manner as required by the company.
  16. Liaise with Senior Management Teams with any reasonable requests.
  17. Drive own personal development through training and work-based experience.
  18. Undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post.
  19. Develop and implement preventative maintenance systems and inspections.
  20. Develop and implement health and safety risk assessments for engineering activities in conjunction with the HS Officer.
  21. Be a member of the site’s Food Safety, HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP team.
  22. Be accountable for ensuring all machinery and plant is working to optimum speed all of the time, with minimal disruption to production.
  23. Responsible for all H&S.
  24. Flexible approach to working hours. On-call duties to resolve any issues out of hours.

1. General Manager.
2. Operations Director.
3. Managing Director.

Hours of Work

40/45 hours per week. Start time to be confirmed – Monday – Friday – occasional Saturdays and Sundays required in peak periods. Hours of operation of the business 24/7 – will need to be flexible to meet the demands of the business.

Remuneration

28 days holiday per year including bank holidays. Bank Holidays are worked and taken in lieu. Contributory pension, if eligible. You will be automatically enrolled into a workplace pension scheme. Further details will be provided.

  5. Extensive practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.
  6. 16th/17th Edition.

  9. Excellent organization skills.
  10. Numerate and literate.
  11. Excellent project management and planning skills.
  12. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information to build intelligent sales strategies.

  14. Meticulous attention to detail.
  15. Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

Other Points to Note

  1. Overtime must be agreed and approved in writing with the line manager prior to working.
  2. Must adhere to all procedures laid out in Employee Handbook and Health & Safety Handbook.
  3. Food hygiene qualification.
  4. Previous experience as an Engineering Manager working in a food environment.
  5. NEBOSH/IOSH qualification.
