The Role: Shaw healthcare is a care provider operating circa 65 care homes and supported living services across the UK and is the largest employee-owned healthcare company in the UK. Based in the head office in St Mellons, Cardiff, an opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance Department.
Objectives: To make a significant contribution to the achievement of the group's business objectives by providing a high standard of financial support, direction and control to all areas of the business, ensuring that clear, accurate and relevant financial information is available on a timely basis.
Principal duties:
- Assisting in the production of accurate and well-presented Management Accounts working papers in line with defined timescales.
- Posting of journals including accruals, prepayments & deferred income.
- Assisting non-finance colleagues with their understanding of budgets and financial performance.
- Reviewing and authorising purchase invoices, checking for appropriateness, consistency of allocation and accuracy including maintenance order reviews.
- Checking payment runs and resolving any BACS payment issues.
- Recording payments and receipts accurately on a daily basis and reconciling company bank accounts on a monthly basis.
- Ensuring that resident bank accounts and cash is appropriately safeguarded and recorded, statements are reviewed and filed.
- Reviewing and preparing intercompany transaction journals for goods and services between companies.
- Assisting with the external audit process, working in partnership with the Central Finance team.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience of assisting in the production of Management Accounts.
- Proficient in using a computer (good Microsoft Excel skills).
- Experience of working in an office environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload with established timescales.
Desirable Criteria:
- Working towards or completion of AAT.
- Experience of working in a Healthcare company environment.
- Full clean driving license.
