Location: Llys Hafren Residential Care Home, Welshpool SY21 7AR

Salary: £16.40 per hour

Hours: 36hrs per week

Shift Times: Between 7.30am - 5pm on a 4-week rolling rota - requirement to work alternative weekends

Llys Hafren is a care home located in Welshpool, Powys, offering 40 residential places focused on dementia care. At Llys Hafren, you'll play a vital role in enhancing our residents' quality of life. Mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day, and you'll help ensure every resident enjoys nutritious, freshly prepared meals in a warm and welcoming environment.

What's involved in the role?

As our Senior Chef, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring every meal is prepared to the highest standards of quality, nutrition and presentation.

• Preparing, cooking and serving fresh, nutritious, home-cooked meals for residents.
• Planning varied menus that cater for individual dietary requirements, allergies, cultural preferences and specialist diets.
• Working closely with the Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist and care teams to ensure residents receive meals that meet their individual needs.
• Leading, motivating and supporting the catering team, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout every shift.
• Ordering food and kitchen supplies, managing stock levels and controlling budgets effectively.
• Monitoring food quality, reducing waste and ensuring efficient kitchen operations.
• Maintaining accurate food safety records and ensuring full compliance with HACCP, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
• Ensuring the kitchen is always clean, organised and maintained to the highest hygiene standards.
• Preparing buffets and special menus for birthdays, seasonal celebrations and events within the home.
• Supporting inspections from Environmental Health and regulatory bodies.
• Creating a positive dining experience that residents look forward to every day.

What We're Looking For

• Has previous experience working as a Chef with supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
• Leads by example and enjoys supporting and developing others.
• Has excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Understands food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
• Enjoys building relationships with residents, relatives and colleagues.
