Shaw Healthcare are recruiting a Clinical Nurse Trainer to join our team covering Wales, Bristol and Midlands. Your role will be to deliver our extensive program of courses to our colleagues; these could be clinical and non‑clinical.

Location: Covering Wales, Bristol and the Midlands

Salary: Up to £42,000 plus monthly car allowance of £470

Objectives:

  • To ensure learning and development activities are aligned with and delivered in alignment to Shaw’s vision, values and a broad range of policies.
  • To promote an inclusive and positive learning culture within Shaw healthcare.
  • To assist in the development of Service, Regional and Organisational training plans.

General Management:

  • To appropriately follow the Training protocols for organising and communicating training events to ensure events are booked and accessed effectively.
  • To maintain records accurately and as requested, on a weekly basis, in order to provide intelligence with regards to the usage of and effectiveness of training.
  • To report, in a timely way, any concerns arising from training that cannot be adequately and appropriately addressed on the day.
  • To report, in a timely way, concerns which require escalation (and to seek support if there is any doubt in this matter).
  • To liaise with the Head of Workforce Development where there is a need, or potential need, for developing new training or for sourcing/using external provision.
  • To ensure, through liaison with Service Managers, that the region has sufficient Moving and Handling Trainers and to coordinate the training, reflective learning and support of these Trainers, including sampling the paperwork generated by them and monitoring their activity and effectiveness.

Practice Expectations:

  • To create opportunities for knowledge, skills and expertise to be shared within and across the organisation.
  • To develop a Training Plan and schedule to meet the needs of the employees, Services and any new business which may require the skills and support of the Trainer.
  • To design and deliver, to the agreed standards and lesson plans, the required training as identified by the Learning and Development Policy and specific training needs.
  • In collaboration with the Learning & Development Department, to strive for excellence with respect to the development of learning materials and experiences.
  • To deliver learning opportunities and experiences which have a positive impact on the learners and result in excellent quality of service provision.
  • To be a proactive communicator with key stakeholders within the business to allow the objectives of the role to be delivered.
  • To support the organisation and execution of start‑up training for new business projects.
  • To be a positive role model with regards to the expected behaviours, attitudes and attributes of a Shaw employee.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant Nursing and Management qualification (e.g. NVQ/QCF in Management; NVQ 4 in Care; Registered Manager’s Award).
  • Nurse qualified with an active PIN.
  • QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care; RMN etc.
  • Management experience gained in relevant health/social care setting.
  • Experience of delivering training in a health and social care setting.
  • IT literate, including the use of basic range of software packages.
  • Valid driving licence and use of own car for work purposes.
  • Willingness to travel and to stay away from home overnight occasionally.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience gained in a range of health and social care settings.
  • Additional teaching/training qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD to demonstrate knowledge of latest research and good practice guidance.
