We are a small independent Low Secure Forensic Mental Health unit based in the Drumchapel area of Glasgow about to expand our service. We have a new and exciting opportunity for 1 full time Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our service. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills working within a Low Secure Service.
Responsibilities:
- Support our OT’s to implement the OT's treatment plans by carrying out practical individual and group activities with service users.
- Use technical/creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible client-centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of clients who experience mental health difficulties and have offending behaviours.
- This will involve supervising and working with patients on a one:one basis, either in a secure ward environment, the local community or the person’s home.
- Support our patients in the development of daily living, social, and community skills to promote independent and autonomous lives.
- Work within the guidelines of this low secure forensic service and therapeutic progress, advocating for meaningful occupation as a human right.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting the overall occupational therapy service within the forensic setting.
- Undertake general activities within the department.
