You will work with a team fully committed to improving the lives of those we care for. Our aim is to deliver the highest standard of care to our service users and provide the standard of care we would expect for our own family members.
Wood House has an excellent reputation as a highly valued provider of care. The needs of our service users are at the centre of all we do every day. Wood House has eight self‑contained apartments and eight ensuite bedrooms with spacious open‑plan communal areas and was designed to meet the needs of people with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities- Ensure the exterior of the building and grounds are maintained to a safe and good standard.
- Coordinate and control all building works and refurbishments with minimum disturbance to residents and staff.
- Carry out routine monitoring and repairs on all systems and liaise with the Home Manager if specialist repairs are necessary.
- Ensure regular tests and checks are carried out and recorded, including boiler function checks, fire alarm activation and water temperature tests.
- Advise the Home Manager on any potential maintenance problems, e.g. heating, refrigeration, electrics, gas and faulty equipment.
- Comply with all aspects of the Health & Safety at Work Act (e.g. COSHH) to assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment, including recording all checks.
- Ensure that safety and cleanliness within the care home and grounds satisfy Environmental Health, Fire and Safety at Work regulations.
- Make sure tools and equipment are maintained and stored safely.
- Be the first point of call for staff when repairs are required and assist with induction of staff, e.g. operation of emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures.
- Give advice over the telephone and/or be prepared to be called out to the home in emergencies when off duty.
- Assist with driving the Home’s minibus, or similar vehicles, for residents’ outings as requested by the Home Manager.
