Working Hours: As/when required, 10.25hr shifts - times between 7:30am-6:15pm

About The Service:

Surehaven Glasgow is registered with Health Improvement Scotland as an Independent Low Secure Hospital, accommodating twenty-one patients aged between 18 years and 65 years with a primary diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness, all of whom are detained under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Scotland Act 2003 or Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act 1995. The hospital is a 21 bedded unit (all ensuite) split into 2 gender specific wards, designed to maximize communal and living space for the patients as well as providing activity rooms for the facilitation of therapeutic programmes.

The Role Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 Minimum and be familiar with Level 6-7 texture modified diet.
  • You will liaise with our Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist and staff to ensure high-quality fresh, home-cooked food is provided every day.
  • You will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving meals for residents and others as required, in a timely manner.
  • Providing a varied diet, catering for the cultural preferences of those who use our services.
  • Catering for celebrations and other events in our Home.
  • Working solo in the kitchen when required.
  • Ordering supplies within the catering budget and company policy guidelines, using approved suppliers in the absence of the Senior Cook.
  • Maintaining accurate catering records in accordance with HACCP.
  • Participating in inspections by Environmental Health and/or care regulators and Local Authorities.
  • Maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the kitchen by adhering to HACCP and COSHH guidelines.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
