Responsibilities
- Architect and drive technical strategy aligned with company vision and long-term product goals.
- Work closely with cross-functional engineering leads to design scalable, robust, and modular system architectures.
- Define and maintain system-level requirements, ensuring alignment across mechanical, electrical, software, and AI teams.
- Produce system documentation including block diagrams, interface definitions, and design specifications.
- Present architectural plans, trade-offs, and progress updates to leadership.
- Lead trade studies and data-driven evaluations for key design decisions.
- Identify and resolve architectural performance constraints to ensure efficiency and reliability.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in robotics and system engineering.
- Establish and enforce technical standards, safety principles, and system compliance guidelines.
- Assess and mitigate technical and program risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Guide integrated testing, debugging, and full system validation efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of relevant industry experience, including 5+ years in system architecture for robotics or complex embedded systems.
- Deep understanding of robot system design (kinematics, dynamics, control, perception).
- Strong background in hardware-software co-design, real-time systems, and middleware frameworks.
- Experience with AI/ML integration, sensor fusion, and autonomous decision-making systems.
- Familiarity with embedded platforms (MCUs, FPGAs, HPC architectures).
- Knowledge of power management, wireless communication, and battery systems.
- Experience using system modelling/simulation environments (e.g., Gazebo, Simulink).
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and trade-off evaluation skills.
