Our clients are seeking an exceptional Head of Engineering to lead the architectural direction, delivery performance, and operational excellence of our software, hardware, and AI platforms. This role owns how technology is designed, built, and scaled — ensuring pace, predictability, and quality across the entire engineering function. Acting as Principal Architect, you will define and evolve long-term software and data architecture strategies, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, resilient, and commercially impactful.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering organisation of approximately 25 engineers across mobile, web, backend, hardware integration, and AI. Key Responsibilities- Own the end-to-end architecture across mobile, web, backend, hardware integrations, data platforms, and AI systems.
- Define long-term technical vision, engineering standards, and architectural principles.
- Ensure systems are built for scalability, security, performance, and strong data foundations.
- Act as the senior technical authority for critical architectural decisions.
- Lead execution of the technology roadmap across software, hardware, data, and AI.
- Drive predictable, high-quality delivery aligned to business priorities and revenue goals.
- Implement strong engineering processes, governance, and quality standards.
- Optimise engineering efficiency and performance metrics across the function.
- Provide clear leadership, accountability, and direction for a team of ~25 engineers.

- Maintain strong governance around engineering, data, and AI to ensure compliance, security, and operational excellence.
- Senior engineering leadership experience within a SaaS, platform, or technology-driven environment.
- Proven experience leading and scaling multidisciplinary teams of 20+ engineers.
- Deep understanding of modern data architectures, including event-driven systems, data platforms, analytics, and AI/ML integration.
- Strong experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ownership of delivery performance, predictability, and engineering quality.
- Track record of aligning technology strategy with commercial outcomes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to executive and board-level stakeholders.
- Comfortable engaging at code, system design, and data model level when required.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, industrial technology, or regulated sectors.
- Exposure to delivering production-grade AI and data platforms.
