The Senior Field Services Engineer is responsible for diagnosing and repairing a broad range of IT hardware, including servers, storage systems, data centre equipment, end-user computing devices (PCs, laptops, tablets), printers, peripherals, and point-of-sale systems at various customer locations across the UK. This role also involves providing support for installations, moves, and changes across client sites, requiring a high degree of flexibility, autonomy, and technical competency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to multiple customer sites to deliver on-site IT support services in line with service level agreements.
  • Provide hardware support and troubleshooting across a range of technologies including server, storage, network, and end-user devices.
  • Perform on-site installations, repairs, and troubleshooting in both software and hardware environments.
  • Maintain and update relevant vendor certifications to meet role requirements.
  • Follow both internal and client-supplied procedures and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Comply with safety standards, including electrical safety and ESD precautions.
  • Accurately complete documentation and service updates for each site visit in a timely manner.
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rota (mornings, evenings, weekends), with applicable allowances.
  • Provide support to other teams within the technology services department as required.
  • Work overtime as necessary to fulfil client contractual obligations, with applicable overtime rates.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in installation, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of IT hardware including servers, storage, and network equipment.
  • Familiarity with data centre environments and end-user computing hardware.
  • Ability to install and configure software based on client requirements.
  • Vendor certifications (e.g., Dell, Lenovo, IBM, HP) are essential.
  • Strong hardware break-fix and maintenance skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Eligible for UK security clearances including SC and NPPV3 (required for access to certain client sites).
