Forming part of a dedicated team of highly experienced and approachable employment lawyers, you will specialise exclusively in the field of employment law. You will be allocated a client portfolio to account manage with an expectation of excellence in respect of delivering advice, assistance and representation to clients of the Firm at all times. Your client portfolio will predominantly include SME business clients who retain our services on an annual contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a bespoke portfolio of SME business clients under the direction of the Firm’s Legal Directors and Directors in accordance with the Firm’s written client care protocols.
  • Advising retained and ad hoc SME business clients on all facets of employment law including internal discipline and grievance proceedings, discrimination issues, unfair dismissal, redundancy and restructuring, contractual matters and TUPE.
  • Assisting the Firm’s legal team with research, drafting and client advisory work as instructed.
  • Drafting contracts of employment, staff handbooks, policies and procedures.
  • Drafting a range of employment documentation.
  • Drafting bespoke settlement agreements.
  • Preparing training materials and on occasion, delivering training to SME business clients.
  • Contributing to group discussion during team meetings.
  • Routinely reading all relevant professional material including case law, key decisions and legislative changes.
  • Undertaking CPD and training to the satisfaction of the Firm and the Law Society of Scotland’s criteria.
  • Contributing to the Firm’s client updates and social media activities.
  • Promoting the interests of the Firm at all times and encouraging referrals of new business through business development initiatives and networking.
