Sharper Consulting Services are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to provide specialist support within the Health & Safety and Public Protection team. The role focuses on health & safety regulation, infectious disease control, and special treatments licensing, with some food safety input desirable but not essential. £50 per hour 3 month contract Full/Part time hours Duties * Lead on health and safety enforcement across a range of premises, including inspections, accident investigations, and enforcement action under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related legislation. * Undertake casework relating to infectious disease control in collaboration with Public Health colleagues, including notifications, outbreak management, and statutory duties. * Administer and enforce the licensing of special treatments premises (e.g. tattooists, piercing, massage, beauty treatments), including inspections, investigations, and licence determinations. * Contribute to service delivery across Public Protection, including responding to service requests, complaints, and enforcement matters. * Prepare and present reports, statements, and evidence for legal proceedings as required. * Liaise with businesses, the public, and partner agencies to ensure compliance and promote best practice. * Provide flexibility to support wider Environmental Health functions (including food safety) as required. Essential Skills & Experience * Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and EHORB/EHRB registration (or higher certificate in Food Control). * Proven experience in health and safety enforcement within a local authority setting. * Strong knowledge of infectious disease management and statutory duties of local authorities. * Experience of special treatments licensing, inspections, and enforcement. * Excellent report writing, case management, and communication skills. * Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and contribute to a busy team environment
