Contract Length: 6-12 months Rate: £38 – £45 per hour (Umbrella) Key Responsibilities: Investigate complaints and breaches of trading standards legislation, including enforcement of weights and measures regulations and tackling counterfeit goods. Undertake inspections of businesses to ensure compliance with legal requirements. Collect evidence, prepare case files, and deliver enforcement actions, including issuing notices and prosecutions. Provide advice and guidance to businesses and consumers on trading standards matters. Represent the authority in court proceedings and other legal hearings. Collaborate with partner agencies to tackle fraudulent activities and promote fair trading. Essential Requirements: Substantial experience as a Trading Standards Officer or in a similar enforcement-focused role. In-depth knowledge of trading standards legislation and enforcement practices. Proven ability to investigate complex cases, manage evidence, and prepare cases for legal action. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
