Job Description
Sharper Consulting Servicesare recruiting for an experienced Trading Standards Officer to support a London based local authority.
The role involves enforcing consumer protection laws, conducting investigations, and taking enforcement actions to ensure compliance with trading standards legislation.
Contract Length: 6-12 months
Rate: £38 – £45 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate complaints and breaches of trading standards legislation, including enforcement of weights and measures regulations and tackling counterfeit goods.
- Undertake inspections of businesses to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Collect evidence, prepare case files, and deliver enforcement actions, including issuing notices and prosecutions.
- Provide advice and guidance to businesses and consumers on trading standards matters.
- Represent the authority in court proceedings and other legal hearings.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to tackle fraudulent activities and promote fair trading.
Essential Requirements:
- Substantial experience as a Trading Standards Officer or in a similar enforcement-focused role.
- In-depth knowledge of trading standards legislation and enforcement practices.
- Proven ability to investigate complex cases, manage evidence, and prepare cases for legal action.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in working with partner organizations and stakeholders.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable).
