Sharper Consulting Services is representing our client in Kent in their search for a highly experienced Senior Environmental Protection Officer to lead on contaminated land matters and manage complex nuisance cases in both commercial and residential settings. This role requires advanced technical knowledge and a proactive approach to environmental protection enforcement and planning consultations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead on contaminated land investigations, assessments, and remediation matters.
  • Manage complex statutory nuisance complaints, particularly related to noise.
  • Provide specialist input into planning consultations, especially where contaminated land or general environmental protection issues are involved.
  • Liaise with developers, consultants, residents, and internal planning and enforcement teams.
  • Conduct site visits and prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Maintain clear and concise records in line with regulatory standards.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience at a senior level within Environmental Protection, specifically in contaminated land and statutory nuisance.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks (e.g., Environmental Protection Act 1990, Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act, Noise Act 1996, etc.).
  • Experience commenting on planning applications.
  • Excellent report writing, case management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Degree in Environmental Health or a related field; EHRB registration or equivalent is desirable.
