Our client in Hertfordshire isseeking an experiencedEnvironmental Health Officer (EHO)to provide support to our in-house team across a broad range of functions. This is a varied role requiring flexibility and the ability to contribute toplanning consultations, licensing applications, private sector housing, and public health duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond toplanning application consultations, providing technical EH input on noise, odour, and contaminated land.
  • Deal withlicensing requests, including Temporary Event Notices (TENs), premises variations, and new premises applications.
  • Support thePrivate Sector Housing team, including HMO inspections and enforcement where required.
  • Assist withpublic health dutiessuch as burials, drainage, and filthy/verminous premises.
  • Investigate and resolvestatutory nuisance complaints(noise, odour, smoke, light) where needed.
  • Prepare clear reports and evidence to support enforcement or committee decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with internal colleagues, elected members, and external partners.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent) withEHRB Registration / Chartered Status (CIEH/REHIS).
  • Proven experience acrossplanning consultations, licensing, housing, and statutory nuisance investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and public health legislation.
  • Experience dealing withpublic health caseworkincluding funerals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
