Senior Accounts Assistant in Rotherham

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run manufacturing business based in Rotherham, who are looking to add an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for more than a traditional bookkeeping or transactional accounts role. The position sits at a level similar to an Assistant Accountant, giving you exposure to a broad range of accounting duties and the opportunity to play an important role within the finance function.

The business is looking for someone with solid experience who can hit the ground running, bring fresh ideas to the table and help improve processes as the company continues to grow.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control duties when required

• Bank reconciliations

• Assisting with VAT returns

• Preparing for month-end

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts

• Posting and calculating accruals and prepayments

• Assisting with journals and month-end adjustments

• Maintaining accurate financial records

• Investigating and resolving finance queries

• Providing financial information and support to the wider business

• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting

• Supporting the Director with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Senior Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper or Assistant Accountant role

• Is confident using Excel and accounting software

• Has excellent attention to detail

• Is organised and able to manage their own workload

• Is proactive and enjoys finding ways to improve processes

• Can work independently while also being a strong team player

• Is confident bringing new ideas and ways of working to the business
