We are seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Team Leader to join a busy and growing finance function on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Working closely with the Purchase Ledger Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership and support to a team of Purchase Ledger Clerks, ensuring the purchase ledger function operates accurately, efficiently and to agreed deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and support the Purchase Ledger team through regular one-to-ones and performance management.
- Manage and resolve escalated supplier and internal queries.
- Ensure payment runs and key team deadlines are completed accurately and on time.
- Oversee vendor accounts, invoice processing and debit balance reviews.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and suppliers to resolve finance-related issues.
- Manage shared inboxes and coordinate workloads across the wider Purchase Ledger function.
- Monitor team performance and ensure high standards of accuracy and service are maintained.
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the Purchase Ledger Manager with the day-to-day management of the function.
The ideal candidate
- Experience leading or supervising a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable team.
- Experience working in a busy finance environment.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Experience using accounting or finance systems.
- A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Either be working towards a recognised accounting qualification or have equivalent practical experience.
