The predicted salary is between 27900 - 34100 £ per year.

We are seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Team Leader to join a busy and growing finance function on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Working closely with the Purchase Ledger Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership and support to a team of Purchase Ledger Clerks, ensuring the purchase ledger function operates accurately, efficiently and to agreed deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and support the Purchase Ledger team through regular one-to-ones and performance management.
  • Manage and resolve escalated supplier and internal queries.
  • Ensure payment runs and key team deadlines are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee vendor accounts, invoice processing and debit balance reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and suppliers to resolve finance-related issues.
  • Manage shared inboxes and coordinate workloads across the wider Purchase Ledger function.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure high standards of accuracy and service are maintained.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support the Purchase Ledger Manager with the day-to-day management of the function.

The ideal candidate

  • Experience leading or supervising a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable team.
  • Experience working in a busy finance environment.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Experience using accounting or finance systems.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Either be working towards a recognised accounting qualification or have equivalent practical experience.
