Sharp Consultancy is partnering with a global manufacturer based in Sheffield to appoint an Operations Accountant to support continued growth. This is a high‑profile, commercially focused role operating at the heart of a complex manufacturing environment. Working closely with site leadership and the wider international finance function, the role combines hands‑on accounting responsibilities with strategic project work, including the development of standard costing models and the delivery of detailed margin and sales analysis.

As a key member of the finance function, you will play an influential role in supporting executive‑level decision‑making by presenting clear, accurate financial insights that drive commercial alignment and support long‑term business objectives. This role is ideally suited to a qualified finance professional who thrives on engaging with senior stakeholders, demonstrates strong commercial acumen and has the confidence to challenge decisions constructively to maximise business performance.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Act as the site finance lead for operational performance, working closely with production teams to drive efficiencies
  • Produce weekly and monthly manufacturing performance reports, including detailed variance analysis across material usage, pricing and labour costs
  • Lead the product costing process for new and existing items, managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and tracking cost‑saving initiatives
  • Act as a trusted business partner to production managers, identifying inefficiencies and driving improvements in factory output
  • Deliver weekly forecasts and performance analysis, highlighting key risks and opportunities
  • Lead site‑level budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Coordinate a robust month‑end close, including the production of management accounts and full balance sheet responsibility at site level
  • Take ownership of the CAPEX process, including asset tracking and payback analysis

Person Specification:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA Qualified
  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment
