We are partnering with a well‑established and growing £45m t/o manufacturing business in Leeds to recruit a Commercial Accountant. Operating across multiple UK manufacturing sites, the business has built a strong reputation for quality, operational excellence, and continued investment in its products and processes. This is a highly visible role within the finance team, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing finance, costing, and operational business partnering. Working closely with site leadership and operational teams, you will play a key role in driving profitability, improving cost visibility, and supporting commercial decision‑making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnering closely with manufacturing and operational teams across multiple UK sites.
- Supporting product costing, margin analysis, and profitability reporting across the business.
- Providing detailed analysis around manufacturing performance, labour, overheads, efficiencies, and cost control.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes for manufacturing operations.
- Producing weekly and monthly KPI reporting with clear financial and operational insight.
- Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities relating to production costs and site performance.
- Supporting pricing decisions and cost optimisation initiatives through robust financial analysis.
- Working closely with site managers to challenge assumptions and improve financial understanding across operations.
- Supporting investment appraisals and capital expenditure projects within manufacturing environments.
- Driving continuous improvement across reporting, controls, costing processes, and operational finance.
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience within a manufacturing finance, costing, or commercial accounting role.
- Strong background in product costing, manufacturing analysis, margin reporting, and operational finance.
- Experience operating within a manufacturing, engineering, FMCG, or multi‑site environment.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to turn operational data into meaningful commercial insight.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence operational and senior stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience using ERP/manufacturing systems.
- Hands‑on and commercially minded approach with a focus on improving operational and financial performance.
