Peter Roberts Motorhomes is a well‑established, family‑run business with a fantastic reputation built over many years. As an approved dealer for leading brands including Adria, Auto‑Trail, Bailey, Elddis and Roller Team, the company has become one of the UK's leading motorhome and caravan retailers.

Following the acquisition of Richard Baldwins in 2024 and opening of a second site, the business is entering an exciting period of growth and is looking to strengthen its senior management team with the appointment of a Financial Controller.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll take ownership of the finance function, ensuring the business has accurate financial information, strong controls, and the commercial insight needed to support continued growth. This role will suit someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of finance and wants to play a key role in a successful owner‑managed business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines.
  • Produce accurate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful commentary to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor dealership profitability and identify opportunities for improvement.

Control & Compliance

  • Maintain robust financial controls and processes across the business.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Oversee VAT returns, payroll journals, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer and group financial reporting requirements.

Dealership Operations

  • Monitor vehicle stock funding, stocking plans, and manufacturer bonus programmes.
  • Reconcile vehicle, parts, service, and warranty accounts.
  • Review departmental performance and provide financial insight to operational managers.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support members of the accounts team.
  • Develop and improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
  • Provide training and guidance where required.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance function.

About You

We are looking for qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) who have experience operating in a Financial Controller or senior finance role. You should be comfortable working in a hands‑on environment, able to switch between strategic discussions and day‑to‑day financial management, and possess strong communication skills to work closely with Directors and managers across the business. Experience within automotive, retail, leisure, distribution or other multi‑site environments would be beneficial, although it is not essential.

What's on Offer?

This is an opportunity to join a successful and growing family business at an exciting stage in its development. You will work closely with the owners, have genuine influence over business decisions, and play an important role in supporting the company's future growth plans.

Qualifications & Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
