We’re excited to be supporting a multi-award-winning Construction business in the search for a Finance Business Partner to join their growing team in Wakefield. This is a pivotal role working alongside operational and commercial leaders to deliver high-quality financial analysis, support strategic decision-making, and enhance project performance. You’ll be a visible, valued voice in the business—helping to translate numbers into meaningful action.
Key Responsibilities:

Partner with project managers and senior stakeholders to analyse performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability

Lead the budgeting and long-term planning processes across key business units
-
Produce clear, data-led insight to support strategic planning and operational decisions
-
Deliver monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis

Monitor and advise on financial risks and opportunities at a project level
-
Provide financial support on bids, tenders, and new commercial initiatives
-
Assist with divisional FP&A activities and performance reviews
-
Drive continuous improvement in reporting tools, financial processes, and efficiency

Ensure strong financial governance, controls, and compliance standards are upheld
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:

Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)

Experience in a finance business partnering role—ideally within engineering, construction, utilities, or another project-led industry

Strong commercial acumen with a focus on adding value
-
Knowledge of Cost Value Reconciliations or CVRs would be advantageous.

Excellent communicator with the confidence to challenge, influence, and build strong cross-functional relationships

Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus

Proactive, hands-on mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
