We are partnering with a £15m t/o Engineering business in Halifax. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and growing business where you will play a key role in shaping the financial direction of the company and supporting future growth plans. The business has built an excellent reputation within its sector through quality, service, and long-standing customer relationships. They are now looking for a commercially focused finance professional who can operate both strategically and hands-on within a fast-paced SME environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and mentoring a small finance team
  • Production of monthly management accounts
  • Cash-flow forecasting and treasury management
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Overseeing transactional finance activities
  • Managing VAT returns and statutory compliance
  • Payroll oversight and HMRC submissions
  • Developing financial processes, controls, and reporting systems
  • Providing commercial analysis to support business decisions
  • Supporting operational teams with financial insight and KPI reporting
  • Preparation of year-end accounts and liaison with external accountants

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or qualified by experience)
  • Previous experience as Financial Controller or senior finance position within an SME
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical ability
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to operate strategically when required
  • Strong Excel and accounting systems experience
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or owner-managed businesses
