We are partnering with a £15m t/o Engineering business in Halifax. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and growing business where you will play a key role in shaping the financial direction of the company and supporting future growth plans. The business has built an excellent reputation within its sector through quality, service, and long-standing customer relationships. They are now looking for a commercially focused finance professional who can operate both strategically and hands-on within a fast-paced SME environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and mentoring a small finance team
- Production of monthly management accounts
- Cash-flow forecasting and treasury management
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Overseeing transactional finance activities
- Managing VAT returns and statutory compliance
- Payroll oversight and HMRC submissions
- Developing financial processes, controls, and reporting systems
- Providing commercial analysis to support business decisions
- Supporting operational teams with financial insight and KPI reporting
- Preparation of year-end accounts and liaison with external accountants
Qualifications & Experience
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or qualified by experience)
- Previous experience as Financial Controller or senior finance position within an SME
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical ability
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Hands-on approach with the ability to operate strategically when required
- Strong Excel and accounting systems experience
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or owner-managed businesses
