This is an excellent opportunity within the retail sector for a fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) to join a well-established and commercially focused finance team during an exciting period of business growth and operational development. The role is ideally suited to an experienced Commercial Accountant seeking a varied position with strong exposure to financial analysis, business partnering, and strategic decision support. In your role as Commercial Accountant, you will report directly to the Finance Controller and develop a strong understanding of the organisation's commercial operations, key financial drivers, and overall business performance. Core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and reviewing monthly financial and commercial performance reports, including detailed commentary and analysis
  • Supporting the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across multiple business areas
  • Analysing revenue, margins, and operational costs to identify trends and opportunities for improved performance
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating/resolving financial variances
  • Managing accruals, prepayments, and other month-end accounting adjustments
  • Providing financial insight and performance analysis to senior stakeholders and operational teams
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data, reporting models, and internal controls
  • Assisting with internal and external audits, including the preparation of supporting schedules and documentation
  • Producing ad hoc commercial analysis, financial reporting, and recommendations to support cost control and process improvements
  • Partnering with operational and departmental managers to provide financial guidance and support business decision-making

As you become established within the role, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibility, contribute to strategic commercial initiatives, and support wider business growth and performance improvement projects. The ideal candidate will be fully qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with proven experience operating within a Commercial Accountant or Management Accountant position. You will possess strong analytical and business partnering skills, a proactive and commercially focused mindset, and a demonstrable track record of improving financial processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving operational performance. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
