Sharp Consultancy is delighted to be the retained recruitment partner for a well‑established regional accountancy firm in Chesterfield as they continue to expand their Audit service line with the appointment of an Audit Senior. This newly created position follows a significant acquisition that has further strengthened their presence in the region and supports their ongoing growth trajectory.

The audit portfolio is packed with a variety of different businesses – from smaller, more local organisations, right the way through to big national names headquartered in South Yorkshire. This breadth provides an excellent platform for post‑qualification development, including the opportunity to mentor junior colleagues and enhance leadership skills, offering excellent softer skill development.

In my opinion, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone ACA / ACCA qualified within practice who enjoys the technical depth of audit and wants to make their mark on a large and diverse client base. The role is planned with continuous development and progression in mind, meaning there is a pathway to advance into management while gaining exposure to an ambitious audit function.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute and finalise audit engagements – including managing budgets and deadlines
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client finance teams – discussing audit findings and building strong business relationships
  • Review the work of assistants and juniors within the team – providing detailed constructive feedback and conducting vital on-the-job training
  • Identify audit risks by evaluating internal controls and performing substantive testing on complex areas
  • Identify opportunities to add value to clients beyond core audit work
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and detailed audit reports
  • Present audit findings to Management with recommendations as required
