Are you an experienced Finance Assistant looking for your next opportunity within a growing SME business? Do you enjoy a varied role where you can take ownership of your work, support the wider business, and take on additional responsibilities as and when required?
I am recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join an established SME business based in Barnsley. Following a period of business growth, with further growth forecast, the business is looking to strengthen its finance team by bringing in additional support.
Working as part of a small, close-knit team, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role where no two days are necessarily the same. You will play an important part in supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function, with the opportunity to take on further responsibilities as the business continues to grow.
The Role
As Finance Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring financial processes are completed accurately and efficiently. Working within a small team, you will need to be flexible, proactive and comfortable getting involved in a variety of tasks to support the wider business.
As the business continues to expand, there will be opportunities to take on additional duties and responsibilities, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and wants to develop their experience within a growing SME environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing purchase and sales invoices.
- Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconciling bank accounts and supplier statements.
- Supporting payment runs and monitoring outstanding balances.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring data is kept up to date.
- Assisting with month-end procedures and financial reporting.
- Responding to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing general administrative support to the finance team.
- Taking on additional duties and responsibilities as required to support the wider business.
About You
We are looking for someone who has previously worked in a Finance Assistant role and is confident supporting day-to-day finance operations.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Finance Assistant or similar finance role.
- A good understanding of general finance processes and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work independently, use your initiative and manage competing priorities.
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities when needed.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across the business.
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to join an SME where you can make a genuine contribution to the finance function. The role would suit someone who enjoys variety, is happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved, and wants to develop their skills and responsibilities as the business evolves.
If you are an experienced Finance Assistant looking for a varied, hands-on role in Barnsley, we would love to hear from you.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
