Sharp Consultancy is working with a growing business based in Penistone who are looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a genuinely varied role that would suit someone who enjoys having responsibility across different areas of finance rather than being restricted to one part of the function. Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, you’ll have involvement across sales ledger, credit control, invoicing, customer accounts, reporting and month-end finance, as well as working closely with customers and internal teams.
What will you be doing?
- Processing and allocating daily customer receipts and bank transactions
- Managing customer accounts and carrying out credit control
- Investigating and resolving payment and account queries
- Raising daily customer invoices and credit notes
- Producing commercial and export invoices
- Managing customer queries and supporting order processing
- Carrying out credit checks on new customers
- Working with the Sales Director around credit limits and payment terms
- Producing weekly customer and management reports
- Supporting month-end processes and account reconciliations
- Posting intercompany transactions and assisting with VAT reporting
- Processing customer credit card payments
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
What are we looking for?
- You’ll ideally have 2 years' experience within a finance or accounts environment, with a good understanding of sales ledger and credit control.
- Previous experience using Sage accounting software or similar system
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Good numerical and analytical ability
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A proactive, organised and questioning approach
