Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Splicing/Cable Operative to support fibre installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance activities across telecoms projects. The ideal candidate will have solid hands‑on experience in fibre splicing, cable pulling, network routing, and troubleshooting, along with the ability to work safely in both overhead and underground environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fibre splicing, termination, OTDR testing, and fault‑finding.
- Install, route, secure, and maintain fibre and network cables across various environments.
- Carry out cable pulling, TRR activities, pole climbing, and underground chamber work.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity issues to ensure optimal service performance.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with safety, quality, and industry compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, test results, and site activities.
- Collaborate with supervisors, field engineers, and the wider project team to meet deadlines.
- Adhere to project specifications, operational guidelines, and H&S policies at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fibre splicing, cable installation, and network testing.
- Strong understanding of fibre optic systems, tools, and testing equipment.
- Ability to work at heights (poles) and in confined/underground environments.
- Relevant industry accreditations (e.g., NRSWA, SA001/SA002, CABWI, or equivalent).
- Full manual UK driving licence (mandatory).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours based on project requirements.
