About the Role
Love exploring what’s next? As a Product Design Engineer II within our Shark Advanced Development team, you’ll help shape the future of our Wet Cleaning product portfolio through early stage innovation, technology creation, and concept development.
Based in our London Design Office, you’ll work on the ideas before they become products bringing together creativity, engineering, and consumer insight to imagine and develop the next generation of Shark innovations.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous challenges, experimenting with new technologies, and turning bold ideas into tangible prototypes. You’ll collaborate with teams across the UK, US, and China in a fast moving environment where curiosity, innovation, and hands on problem solving are at the heart of what we do.
What You’ll Do
This role is all about exploring possibilities, testing ideas, and pushing boundaries. You’ll work at the front end of innovation helping define what future products could look like and how they’ll work.
Here’s what you’ll be getting involved in:
• Exploring and developing early stage concepts, technologies, and system architectures for future Shark Wet Cleaning innovations
• Translating consumer insights and emerging trends into exciting engineering solutions and working demonstrators
• Designing and building proof of concept prototypes to validate new ideas, mechanisms, and technologies
• Conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments, and trade off analyses to guide concept direction
• Applying strong engineering fundamentals to evaluate performance, scalability, and future commercial potential
• Rapidly iterating through hands on prototyping, testing, and learning cycles
• Collaborating with cross functional teams to define product vision, technical roadmaps, and future innovation pipelines
• Communicating concepts and technical ideas clearly through CAD, prototypes, and presentations
• Supporting the transition of promising concepts into AD teams
• Contributing to a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and continuous learning
What You’ll Bring
You’re naturally curious, love exploring new ideas, and enjoy building things that don’t exist yet. You’re comfortable working in fast moving, less defined spaces and excited by the challenge of turning concepts into reality.
We’d love to see:
• A degree in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Design Engineering
• Experience in mechanical or product design, ideally with exposure to concept or early stage development work
• Experience in consumer goods or household appliances is highly desirable
• A strong understanding of plastics and manufacturing processes with the ability to balance innovation and feasibility
• Confidence solving ambiguous problems and exploring multiple solution pathways
• High proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo
• Hands on prototyping skills and a test and learn mindset
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain ideas clearly and influence stakeholders
• A proactive, collaborative, and curious approach to problem solving
• An appreciation for electronics, software, or UX especially within concept development environments
