Police Staff Investigator PIP Level 2 – Serious and Organised Crime Unit HC622056

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: Police Staff Scale SO1, £35,526 to £37,692, per annum

Hours: Full time – 37 hours – There is an optional call out rota.

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full Time/ Flexible and part-time working considered.

Is this an opportunity for you?

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced PIP2 PSI investigator to develop their skills in a professional and dedicated team carrying out serious and complex investigations in the Eastern area based in Portsmouth.

SOCU is an exciting environment where you will have the opportunity to become involved in intelligence development and covert investigations with a view to disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups.

Your duties will encompass a wide range of investigative activities including, but not limited to, statement taking, securing and reviewing CCTV, suspect interviewing, file building inc disclosure declarations, and full Officer in Case (OIC) duties, which includes attending court and giving evidence.

You will also assist other investigators with key case progression such as disclosure reviews, redacting material, reviewing 3rd party data and document scheduling.

We require you to be qualified to PIP2 or equivalent, have proven experience of working within an investigatory role, ideally with a working knowledge and experience of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice procedures; knowledge of RIPA and working with communications data would be advantageous but not essential.

Additional Information

The SOCU team work a variable shift pattern including some late shifts and weekend working over a 3-week rotation period.

Essential Qualifications

Essential: Competent Investigator Serious and Complex Crime (PIP2 qualified).

Demonstrable experience of complex information gathering and problem solving. A detailed understanding of the criminal justice system.
