Salary: Scale 5, £29,109 - £31,296 per annum

Contract: Temporary 18 months

Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Role:

To manage National Policing Databases and infrastructure, reacting to requests from the business for the purposes of complying with national operating rules and supporting investigations across all departments. To uphold the national standards, and maintain the integrity of national systems. To act as a benchmarking, testing and policing authority in terms of governance of police systems. To develop strong relationships with partner agencies and forces, assisting and supporting Force strategy, with emphasis on collaborative working practices. To respond to the demands placed upon the importance of national databases data standards.

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • To understand the details and provisions of the National Standards, the Freedom of Information Act 2000, PNC & PND, LEDS, Code of Practice in statute, including on the Management of Police Information (MoPI) and other associated legislation governing retention and disclosure of information on national databases.
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of policies and procedure surrounding national operating rules, such as facial searching.
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of regulatory processes, and changes to permitted and protected access to confidential systems and intelligence.
  • To undertake assessments on data within the system to determine the business requirements in support of investigations, processing the sensitive information lawfully.
  • Quantify the value, sensitivity and disclosure of that data to operations as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain national quality controls and testing.
  • To identify and anticipate issues or circumstances that may result in, or be at risk from disclosing inaccurate data or sharing to other forces and investigations.
  • Escalate any findings to line management in the form of reports, outlining any risks, with recommendations for improvement or resolution in capacity as Subject matter experts.

Essential Qualifications:

Educated to QCF Level 2 (3 – 5 passes inc. Maths and English) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.

Essential Experience:

  • At least 1 year experience working in a busy office, using computerised data systems.
  • To have experience in cross referencing complex systems.
  • Familiarity with record keeping and to have undertaken Quality Assurance.
