The work may be called \βpart-time\β, but on-call firefighters are trained and experienced individuals on the front line, saving lives and protecting people and community assets. They are paid for their services, receive thorough training, and learn all necessary skills for emergency situations and personal development.
On-call firefighters come from all community sectors, including full or part-time employment, self-employment, students, or those not currently employed. They are dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to support the fire and rescue service and their communities.
This demanding role offers the chance to make a significant contribution. Teamwork is essential, especially during emergencies, and the role includes attending community events.
On-call firefighters respond to various situations beyond fires, such as community fire safety, flooding, co-responding, road accidents, chemical spills, and animal rescues.
