About the Role

This senior HR adviser will work within the Policy and Reward Team to develop and implement HR policies, guidance and support managers and staff across Hampshire County Council. The position involves working closely with HR Business Partners, the Employment Law team and colleagues across People Services to ensure legally compliant decisions and to formulate clear, consistent outcomes for employees and managers.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain HR policies, guidance and wording for key pay processes such as pay awards, role evaluations, payments and market supplements.
  • Support key pay processes and help ensure accurate and fair compensation across the organisation.
  • Provide project management across multiple workplace initiatives and deliverables, coordinating with the Strategic HR Adviser on each project.
  • Analyse complex issues, identify options, propose solutions and deliver written policy and guidance to managers.
  • Interpret employment law and legislation to produce accessible, clear documents for managers.
  • Ensure consistent, fair and efficient outcomes for employees and managers.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong written communication skills with a high level of accuracy; ability to produce clear, well‑structured policy documents.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and the ability to translate legislation into practical guidance.
  • Proficiency in IT tools and systems, with an eye for detail and data accuracy.
  • Excellent project management, time‑management and organisational capabilities; self‑organised and able to deliver on timelines.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills: ability to listen, test understanding and provide solutions.
