The Role
To lead the design and delivery of a variety of planned building projects, providing a service of the highest quality. Delivering successful projects safely, on time, on budget and with good client feedback.
What you\’ll do
- Lead the design and delivery of a variety of building projects including planned maintenance works, internal alterations and extensions to existing buildings, ranging from £5k to £2.5M.
- Lead and coordinate multi‑disciplinary design teams to achieve efficient and effective delivery of projects and programmes, aligning progress at all stages and meeting financial fee targets.
- Undertake surveys, inspections and investigations where necessary, preparing reports on the findings.
- Provide a building surveying service that is high quality, creative and effective, planning, designing and delivering successful projects safely, on time and budget, with good client feedback.
- Exercise a balance of design, construction technology and project management to create and deliver appropriate solutions that achieve the client\’s aims, offers best value and is fit for purpose.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, users and other stakeholders – sometimes in sensitive and/or challenging situations – to build and maintain positive and productive relationships and achieve successful outcomes.
- Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence, technical and specialist knowledge.
What we\’re looking for
- Suitably qualified and/or experienced Building Surveyor with an HNC minimum or equivalent in building, ideally RICS, CIOB, CIAT or equivalent.
- Extensive, recent experience in building surveying, project management and the Principal Designer role in relation to the CDM and Building Regulations.
- Thorough understanding of statutory requirements such as Health and Safety and Building Regulations, alongside a strong knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Highly motivated, well‑organised, able to make sound judgements in complex situations while demonstrating strong customer focus and resilience.
- Experience in AutoCAD or similar software, report writing and leading multi‑disciplinary teams is desirable.
