We are looking for an enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our busy team preparing and serving healthy, nutritious school meals, as well as setting up and clearing the school dining hall or eating areas. Our Catering Assistants work term time, during school hours. It\’s a rewarding job, and we provide all the necessary training to help you succeed, with ample opportunities for learning and progression.
You should enjoy being part of a team. Serving lunch on time is essential, so you must be able to cope in a busy environment and work well under pressure. Experience in catering is advantageous but not essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Helping prepare, cook, and serve lunch to pupils following strict hygiene and safety rules.
- Carrying out kitchen tasks such as cleaning, setting up, and clearing dining areas.
- Handling deliveries, rotating stock, and conducting quality checks.
- Following portion control guidelines and accommodating dietary requirements.
- Encouraging children to try a variety of foods.
- Making packed lunches for trips.
- Occasionally handling cash following guidelines.
Mandatory training on Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, and Health & Safety will be provided upon commencement and every three years.
Ideal candidates will be strong team players, able to work in fast-paced environments, cope with physical demands, and work in hot kitchen conditions. This is a term-time only role with no evenings, weekends, or school holidays.
