Rejoining Detective Constable

Locations – Police Investigation Centres in Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight (Newport)

Rank – Substantive Constable with PIP2 qualification

Salary – Salary will be verified against prior service in a Home Office Force and placed on the correct pay point in line with Police Regulations. A South East Allowance of £2,000 per annum also applies.

Intake Dates – June, September and November 2026

Overview

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Constabulary is one of the largest forces in the country and operates across 1,500 square miles, including rural areas, densely populated cities, major transport networks (M27, M3, key rail hubs and two international airports) and critical national infrastructure sites such as the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth and vital oil refineries.

Eligibility

• Former serving police officer in a Home Office Force who has completed the two‑year probationary period, the Policing Diploma (or equivalent) and has been confirmed as a substantive constable.
• Holder of a PIP2 qualification.
• Pass required vetting, occupational health and a basic fitness test (shuttle run to level 5.4 or above and a push/pull test).
• Resided in the UK for the three years immediately prior to application.
• Not a member of the British National Party (BNP) or a similar organisation.
• Declare any business interest.
• Hold a full manual or automatic driving licence.

Essential Qualifications

• Competent Constable status with PIP2 qualification.

• Upload the last two PDRs (if available), the PIP2 certificate, and evidence of any promotion qualifications (OSPRE or NPPF) to the \”My Documents\” section of the application form.
