Our Rock Academy is a new specialist school with a focus on autism for pupils aged 8-16 based in Rochester. We are establishing a school built on a powerful and unwavering belief: every child is treated with the same respect, dignity and opportunity to succeed. Our pupils will have a range of special educational needs, with a particular emphasis on autism, and we are seeking a visionary leader who is passionate about creating an environment where difference is understood, celebrated and supported.

Responsibilities
  • As Founding Headteacher, shape the school from the very beginning including working with a specialist consultancy to register for DfE and defining its culture.
  • Establish outstanding practice, recruit and develop a dedicated team, and embed high expectations for learning, wellbeing and inclusion.
  • Design a nurturing, structured and aspirational environment where pupils feel safe, valued and empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
Qualifications and experience
  • Experienced and inspirational leader with a strong background in special education and a deep understanding of autism.
  • Ideally have experience of registering a new educational provision.
  • Ability to combine strategic clarity with compassion, demonstrate a proven ability to raise standards, and possess the drive and resilience required to build a school community from the ground up.
  • Safeguarding and inclusion will sit at the heart of all work; you will build relationships with relevant agencies and local authorities.
