ShareAction is an independent charity and an expert on responsible investment. We work to build a world where the financial system serves our planet and its people. We set ambitious standards for how financial institutions, through their investment decisions, can protect our planet and its people and campaign for this approach to become the norm. We convene shareholders to collectively push companies to tackle the climate crisis, protect nature, improve workers’ rights and shape healthier societies. In the UK and EU, we advocate for financial regulation that has society’s best interests at its core.
The Programme Manager will work to support the Programme Lead in ensuring the smooth and effective running of ShareAction’s Energy Transition Programme which aims to contribute to tackling the climate crisis. This pivotal role will lead the implementation of effective programme management processes and systems to plan, monitor and drive programme delivery, performance and expenditure. It will also support fundraising activity, events and external stakeholder engagement for the programme, and represent the programme with colleagues across the organisation to co‑ordinate delivery, manage dependencies and ensure strategic alignment.
In this role, you will regularly engage with members of the Energy Transition team, with colleagues in other teams involved in helping to deliver aspects of the Programme, and with peer Programme Managers to promote strategic alignment and cross‑team learning. Forming productive internal relationships will be crucial for success, using your skills and experience to manage and coordinate our resources to help maximise our impact. In doing so, you will support ShareAction’s progress towards its overall mission of promoting a more responsible investment system as well as achieving our climate campaign objectives.
Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will be highly varied: one day you could be organising the logistics and agenda for a team planning or evaluation session; the next, developing a budget for a funding proposal; and the next, helping the Programme Lead prepare for external presentation.
We’re seeking an experienced programme manager who is highly organised, motivated, proactive and efficient. You’ll need excellent interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills to succeed in this lynch‑pin role for the smooth running of the programme across all its activities. You’ll also need to be personally aligned with ShareAction’s values and mission. While we hope we’ll find someone with the majority of the skills and experience in the Job Description, we’re keen to hear from you, even if you don’t have them all. We appreciate that lots of skills are transferable and we welcome an open and honest discussion about how we might support you in any areas requiring further development.
We have a formal hybrid working policy in place. Given the central coordination role that this role will play, there is an expectation that you will be able to come into the office at least once a week to attend team meetings (scheduled on Tuesdays) and other meetings, as needed, with internal and external stakeholders.
We are a fast‑paced organisation that has grown substantially over the past few years. We recognise that our people work hard to advocate for responsible investment and drive meaningful engagement with those who have the power to create a brighter future. Every day they bring their expertise, passion and persistence to build a world where the financial system serves our people and planet. We want to ensure we provide the right environment for our colleagues to thrive and we are committed to improving our employee offer where possible.
