If you’re passionate about sustainability and our local communities, love working with people and things, can find your way around a sander and a spreadsheet, and want to work part-time for a Bristol charity, then we’ve got a really lovely job for you.

Share Bristol is looking for a Part-Time Library of Things Manager (paid role) to run our Winterbourne site. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team of staff and volunteers who are all working towards one simple idea: making borrowing as convenient as buying.

In this role, you’ll be the welcoming face of Share Bristol, Library of Things. You’ll be the person who cannot wait to say hello when someone walks through the door, who enjoys helping people find just the right thing they need, and who’s just as happy chatting to members as you are labeling tools, interviewing volunteers, checking kit back in, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

We’re after someone who:

  • Thrives on being busy and around people
  • Is genuinely excited about reducing waste and helping people save money
  • Is practical and confident around everyday tools and household items
  • Is just as comfortable with a spreadsheet as with a screwdriver
  • Brings energy and enthusiasm, but is also really well organised and reliable

Person requirements

  • Experience of retail or customer service type roles where you were dealing with the public.
  • Experience of working with volunteer teams.
  • Experience of building effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience of volunteering or working for a charity.
  • Experience of being the responsible person for a building or service.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing Things, e.g. tools.

Details

  • Role: Library of Things Manager – Share Bristol Winterbourne
  • Hours: 12 hours per week
  • Pay: £13.75 per hour
  • Closing Date: 7am on Friday 13th November 2026

Core working hours onsite (includes when we’re open for lending sessions)

  • Monday: 11.30am – 2.15pm
  • Saturday: 12pm – 2.45pm

Start date: As soon as practical

We’re committed to paying the Real Living Wage, so you know you’ll be paid fairly for your time and skills. You’ll also get free membership of Share Bristol, so you can borrow whatever you want, whenever you want, for free – whether that’s a drill for a weekend project, a carpet cleaner, camping gear or party kit.

It’s a lovely chance to play a key role in a growing community resource, help people live more sustainably, and make life more affordable for local residents and students.
