We are Share Bristol, Library of Things, a community‑led library that provides the Things people need to live their lives. Our vision is that everyone shares. We protect the environment, support local communities through affordable access to DIY projects, deep cleaning and camping holidays, and bring people together by fostering a sense of community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR and People work for the trustee team, ensuring that Share Bristol is as good as it can be.
  • Coordinate new staff recruitment and provide assistance with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training and development and retention structure.
  • Assist the Development and Operations Manager in line management of the rest of the team.
  • Develop HR policies and procedures fit for a growing workforce.
  • Work with part‑time staff and volunteers across different sites, listening to the local community, being inclusive and responding to local demand.

Qualifications

  • Strong HR background – either an experienced manager of people or an HR professional.
  • Experience working with volunteers or responsibility for safeguarding in an organisation (bonus).
  • Skills to attract and retain the best people, support team performance, and help team members feel supported.
  • Experience working with part‑time staff and volunteers across different sites.

Team & Impact

We have four part‑time staff and expect this to grow to six in early 2026. We have around 30–40 active volunteers and this number is growing.

Community

All are welcome, and we are particularly keen to hear from people belonging to groups who are under‑represented in the environmental field.
