Walfinch Home Care are looking for an Apprentice Support Worker. You will be studying toward your Level 2 Adult Care Apprenticeship. No experience required. Due to role requirements, you must be able to drive & have access to a vehicle.

Your role will involve:

  • Meeting the personal care needs of clients in a way that respects their dignity and promotes independence.
  • Providing and coordinating individualized care and resources to elderly, disabled individuals, and others so they may continue to live in their homes and in the community.
  • Assisting clients with all personal care needs including undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting.
  • Following the care plan.
  • Assisting clients with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and helping in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • Supporting and caring for clients who require End of Life Support.
  • Engaging in the promotion of mental and physical well-being of clients through conversation, outings, and shared activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, and recreation.
  • Performing domestic tasks within the household, including making and changing beds and assisting with laundry where required.
  • Updating and maintaining current, accurate, confidential records for each client.
  • Complying with the organisation’s policies and procedures, including the client’s care plan and medication needs.
  • Reporting any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a client to the registered manager.
  • Attending mandatory training, including induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.
  • Enabling and assisting clients to maintain as much autonomy and independence as possible on a day-to-day basis.
  • Identifying risks and recording the support plan to minimise and manage identified risks.
  • Involving and consulting with the relevant Walfinch Manager to ensure that the client’s views are expressed and acted upon.
  • Attending reviews of care as appropriate.
  • Updating and continually improving practice through attendance at staff meetings, learning support briefings, and one-to-one supervision.
  • Being aware of requirements regarding codes of practice and relevant codes of conduct issued by professional bodies.
  • Understanding the New Fundamental Standard Regulations 9 – 20 in relation to the Care Quality Commission Inspect regime and its importance to workplace practice.
  • Promoting good practice and being vigilant in recognising and reporting practices that do not meet defined standards.
  • Assisting and contributing to any regulatory body inspection or monitoring visit.
  • Safeguarding clients from any form of abuse and reporting such concerns immediately.
