Royal Museums Greenwich is seeking a skilled Object Conservator to join its Object Conservation team based at the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre (Kidbrooke). This full-time, permanent role focuses on the conservation of historic three-dimensional metal objects, including scientific instruments and large artefacts like anchors and cannons. The position involves conservation treatment, documentation, and specialist care for the National Maritime Museum’s collections, ensuring alignment with professional and ethical standards.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant conservation qualification (or equivalent experience) and bring several years’ practical expertise in object and metals conservation.

  • Professional qualification or significant experience in object/metals conservation
  • Hands-on conservation treatment skills, especially for historic metal artefacts
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations and conservation ethics
  • Experience with documentation, condition reporting, and treatment records
  • Familiarity with conservation of scientific instruments and/or large working objects (desirable)
